Service at St Leonard's Church

Our School Music Clubs (Orchestra, Junior Choir and Advanced Recorder Club) have been invited to provide Music for a special Songs of Praise Service at Upton St Leonards Church.  This will take place at 3 pm on Sunday 18th May (Trinity Sunday).

Parents, other family members and friends will be very welcome at the service, and we hope that the church will be full!  It is a wonderful opportunity for the children to be able to make a contribution to a community event.

We have already started practising for this service.  If your child is a member of the Orchestra, Junior Choir or Advanced Recorder Group, we should be grateful if you would please complete and return the reply slip as soon as possible so we know how many children will be attending.

Race for Life

Two of our Year 3 children are taking part in the Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research at Plock Court in July.  If you would like to sponsor them, their form is available in the School Office.

School Meals

The cost for school meals for the whole of the summer term is £100.30 for infants and £106.20 for juniors. Please rembmer that we expect payment for meals in advance. (The Spring/Summer menu is available on a separate page of 'Latest News').

Staffing

On Monday we welcomed 3 Teaching Assistants to our staff team. Mrs Smales is working in YRL, having replaced Mrs Martin, Miss Palmer has replaced Mrs Camber in Y1B and Mrs Hassanjee has joined Y5J.  We hope all 3 new members of staff will be very happy in our school.

Dental Health Survey

Our school has been randomly selected by Gloucestershire NHS Primary Care Trust to take part in a national survey of dental health. This involves carrying out dental examinations of 30 of our 5 year-old children on Friday 2nd May.  If your child brings home a letter about this and you are willing for them to be involved, please complete the permission slip and return it to the School Office as soon as possible, thank you.

Assessments

Please remember that Year 2 and Year 6 have their end of Key Stage Assessments during this term.  The Year 2 children have already started their assessments and will be continuing over the next 3 weeks.  The Year 6 tests take place during the week beginning 12th May.   It would help the children if they could have plenty of sleep and arrive at school on time having had a good breakfast!
