There has been more success for some of our children! The 'Quizoos' won the runners up trophy for the Under 15 Competition. Well done!

Walk to School Week

This week has been Walk to School Week, and the teachers report that it has been successful witth up to 2/3 of the children walking at some stage of the week.  Well done to everyone who has joined in, if anyone has ideas for how to keep the momentum going, then please come and talk to me about them.  I shall be attending a meeting to discuss Travel Plans in the week after the holiday and it would be good to be able to report back on parents views.

Just a thought from the Walk to School website  ...... "If everyone were able to commit to walking just one day a week, there would be a 20% reduction in the traffic around our school".

Blue Tits

The blue tits are growing daily, and should be venturing out of the nest box soon!

Visits

The Year 6 children are off to Cheltenham on the Tuesday after the holiday, where they will be having workshop sessions on a Gamelan Orchestra.  A Gamelan is an Indonesian orchestra which comprises a collection of instruments including bronze xylophones, gongs and drums.  Cheltenham gamelan was specially commissioned by Cheltenham Music Festivals and arrived in the UK in 2005.  The workshops, arranged by Mr Groves, should be stimulating and worthwhile. Permission slips should please be returned the day after the holiday.

The Year 2 children are looking forward to their trip to Weston-Super-Mare on the Thursday after the holiday. Let's hope for some dry, sunny weather for them.

Eurovision Song Contest

On Wednesday, 33 of our junior children attended the Eurovision Song Contest at Innsworth Junior School.  The event was organised by the High School for Girls in their capacity as a Modern Language College.  It involved the children preparing, rehearsing and then performing a song, dance or short play in either French or Spanish.  The children competed against Innsworth, Coney Hill and Tredworth, and the competition was won by Coney Hill.

Thank you to Mr Allen for organising this event.

Songs of Praise

30 of our children took part in the Songs of Praise for Trinity Sunday at the Parish Church on Sunday afternoon.  Well done to the Choir, Orchestra and Recorder Group.  Thank you to everyone who attended the service.  We are also grateful to Mr Abrahams (organ) and Rev Paul Leckey and to all those who prvided refreshments.  Thank you to Mr Groves for his hard work in preparing the children for the service.
