Music success

Well done to a number of our violinists who have been awarded their Bronze and Gold Certificates.

Tennis

Our tennis team played Abbeymead in the second round of the Gloucester Mini Tennis League.  They played extremely well and were narrowly defeated.

Football

Congratulations to several of our footballers who are through to the final trials for the U11 squad and, one of whom, has been selected for training for the U10 Gloucester City School District training squad.

Summer Concerts

Well done to all the children who took part in the first of our two Summer Concrts this week.  The next performance is on Wednesday 9th July from 3.30-4.45pm.  The concert includes performances by the choir, orchestra and recorder groups, by some of our instrumentalists and by each junior year group.  All junior children will be involved in the concert.  We do have some spare tickets - please ask at the office if you would like one.

The creche, for children in the infant classes whose parents are attending the concert, will be in Y1B.  Please could parents collect their children as usual after school and take them to the creche so that we can check names off on our loist.  At the end of the concert. please collect performers from the playground and infant children from Y1B.

Summer Fair

The Summer Fair is to be held on Saturday 5th July.  Anyone who is willing to help should please leave their name and details in the school office.

You will have received raffle tickets by pupil post.  Please could you return any money or unsold tickets to the office by Wednesday.

We are now asking parents of children in the juniors for donations of bottles, and parents of children in the infants for donations of cakes.  Please bring your donations to the office from Monday 30th June (bottles) and Thursday 3rd July (cakes). Thank you very much.

Sports Day

Junior Sports Day will take place on Tuesday 1st July in the afternoon and will start at 1.15pm (the children will have their lunch at the normal time, but will have their playtime beforehand at 12 o'clock).  If it rains, we shall hold the event on Tuesday 8th July.

Infant Sports Day will take place on Thursday 3rd July, starting at 1.45pm (please note revised time).  The reserve date is Thursday 10th July.

The junior children have taken part in sprint races and the results, by way of points for the House Teams were:

Ash 135, Beech 75, Elm 95, Oak 55

These will be added to the points score from the Cross Country Races held in November, the Multi Sports Tournament held in February and next week's Junior Sports Day.

Parents are very welcome to attend the Junior and Infants Sports afternoons.  The children will need to have their proper school games kit in school please (with t-shirts in house colours if possible), together with a water bottle and a hat.  Sun cream should be applied in advance.  If any parent is willing to help with the infant sports, please see Mrs Cordall on Monday. Thank you.

Visits

The Year 6 children went to the Cathedral last week, for the Diocesan Leavers' Service.  They enjoyed performances by dancers from Ribston Hall High School and by a mime artist.

The children in Year 4 went to Lower Moor Farm last week, and to Birmingham Symphony Hall this week for a performance of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.  Earlier in the week, one of the players from the orchestra visited the children here to talk to them about the music and to play extracts on the 'cello.
