Summer Concerts

Don't forget that the second of our Summer Concerts is on Wednesday and starts at 3.30pm.  The concert includes performances by the choir, orchestra and recorder groups, by some of our instrumentalists and by each junior year group.  All junior children will be involved in the concert as well as the Y2s in Mr Groves' Recorder Group.  We do have some spare tickets - please ask at the office if you would like one.

The creche, for children in the infant classes whose parents are attending the concert, will be in Y1B.  Please could parents collect their children as usual after school and take them to the creche so that we can check names off on our list.  At the end of the concert, please collect performers from the playground and infant children from Y1B.

Music Lessons

If you are interested in your child learning a musical instrument at school, please contact the office for details.  We offer tuiton during school time in flute, clarinet, oboe, piano, violin and brass instuments.  Violin and piano tuiton is suitable for Y2 and above, woodwind, Y3 and above and brass for Y5 and above.

Summer Fair

The Summer Fair is to be held tomorrow and starts at 12 noon.  We still need offers of help, please!  If you could spare an hour during the afternoon to help on a stall, please phone Michelle Fox on 372534 or Lisa Stokes on 555888.

School Council

Members of our School Council were asked to act as hosts to a group of visitors from Gloucester Diocese yesterday.  The visitors were being interviewed for the post of Diocesan Director of Education and the visit formed part of the interview process.  They were given a tour of the building and then talked to the children informally about the school over lunch.

As there are over a hundred Church of England primary schools in the Diocese of Gloucester, it was a real honour to be chosen to host this visit.  The members of the School Council did a superb job, were models of politeness and were a real credit to the school.

Sports Day

Well done to all the junior children for taking part so enthusiastically in the junior sports day on Tuesday.  The final scores, which incorporate the Cross Country Competition, the Multi Sports Tournament and the Sprint Races, were:

1st Ash - 2698 points

2nd Beech - 2534 points

3rd Elm - 2168 points

4th Oak - 2161 points

Unfortunately the heavy rain over night on Wednesday prevented us using the field for the infant events yesterday.  The infant sports will now be held next Thursday afternoon instead.

Visits

The Year 5 children visited Westonbirt Arboretum on Wednesday for an orienteering exercise.  Despite some rain, they had a really good time, and it was just some off the adults who got lost!

Y2/Y3 Transfer Meeting

If your child is in Year 2, you should have received a letter giving details of the Y2/Y3 Transfer Meeting, which is to be held after school on Tuesday 8th July in the hall.

Leavers' Disco

The Leavers' Disco is next Thursday from 7-8.30pm at Bowden Hall Hotel.

There will be free admission for the Year 6 children.  Year 5 children are also invited - £1 admission.

Are they in Y3 going into Y4 in September?

If so, Abbeymead Rovers are looking for players for next season.  Training and matches take place on a Saturday morning, organised by an FA qualified coach.

Please contact Andy Liddle on 420353 or andyliddle@aol.com for more details.
