Welcome Back

Welcome back to school for the busy Christmas term — we hope you had an enjoyable and restful holiday. This term we particularly welcome a new child who has joined us in Y3.

“Friendship”

Our Value in school this term is “Friendship” which links in with our Anti-Bullying week. The children will be learning how to be a good friend through assemblies, stories and discussions in class.

Year 1 trip to Warwick Castle

Our Year 1 classes enjoyed a glorious sunny day for their trip to Warwick Castle on Wednesday. The visit enhanced their work on the creative theme “Over the hills and far away”. They looked around the castle and grounds and learnt all about castle life.

Kidscape

Just a reminder that Zoe Mansell is holding an open day to raise money for the anti-bullying charity Kidscape. This takes place on the 7th November from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Unit 18, Innsworth Technology Park, Innsworth Lane. Tickets are available from Zoe Mansell on 01452 730047 or 07969 184815. We shall be using some resources and ideas from Kidscape during Anti-Bullying Week in November. Their website can be found at www.kidscape.org.uk

Cycling Proficiency

A reminder to our Y6 children that the cycling proficiency team will be in school next week. Children participating in this will need to bring a road worthy bicycle, helmet and lock to school. Please remember to dismount your bicycle when entering the school grounds. Thank you.

Bonfire Safety

We hope everyone who attended firework celebrations last night enjoyed themselves and remembered the firework safety advice. Anyone attending an event this weekend, please take care and have a lovely time.

Operation Christmas Child

Our collection of Christmas boxes is slowly growing. Spare leaflets are available in the office, and the website can be found at www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk

Please remember to wrap the lid separately from the box so the contents can be checked at the warehouse. The boxes need to be returned before the 14th November please.

Photographs

Thank you to everyone who have already ordered photographs. The final date was today, but there will be one last opportunity first thing on Monday morning.

Children in Need

The Friends’ Association will, as usual, be supporting Children in Need on Friday 20th November. The children are welcome to wear something spotty on this day and to make a donation to the collection made by the Friends.

Be Safe Be Seen

Your child has already brought home information about the “Be Safe—Be Seen’ Campaign, which is running in co-operation with the Gloucestershire County Council School Travel Plan Team. This initiative aims to improve the visibility of children on our roads, and offers fluorescent waistcoats for £4.99. Today was the final date for orders, however these will not be sent until Monday morning so anyone still requiring a waistcoat will need to see the Office staff before school on Monday.

Midday Supervisor

We still require 2 Midday Supervisors. One is for 5 lunchtimes (11.50 a.m. to 1.05 p.m.) working with the Infants, and the other is just on Fridays (12.25 p.m to 1.40 p.m ) with the Juniors. If you are interested in either of these posts, then please enquire at the Office. Thank you.

Class Assemblies

There are 2 class assemblies this term and parents of the class concerned are welcome to join us for these. Y2T will be presenting their assembly on the 27th November at 9.55 a.m. and Y6D will be presenting their assembly on the 4th December at the same time.

Visitors Badges

All parents and visitors are reminded to sign in at the office if they need to come into school. A visitor’s badge must be worn at all times. This is in line with our security procedures and Health and Safety requirements at school.

Poppy Appeal

Poppies are on sale in school in aid of the Royal British Legion until Wednesday 11th November. Children can donate to the charity and receive their poppy. Any parents who wish to donate can also do so at the School Office.

Football Match

Well done to our football team who played valiantly against Heron Primary at school yesterday. They lost 2-0. Everyone played well and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Netball Match

Our netball players took part in a home game against Abbeymead Primary School yesterday. The score was 4-2 to Abbeymead. It was a super game - well done to everyone involved.
