"Cold wintry places"

We have based our topic on "Cold wintry places", and looked at the geography of different cold countries, and also how animals adapt to the cold weather.  This theme is also carried on in our artwork.

We have also researched the explorer Roald Amunden, and his race to the South Pole.

For literacy we have concentrated on the books by Mairi Hedderwick, and her character "Katie Morag" who lives in the Isle of Struay.

Homework Policy

Reading

Reading books can be changed daily during school time.  Children can change their book when it has been finished and signed off in the reading record by an adult.  Children who have read at home and had their reading record signed 3 times a week will be given 1 house point.

Homework

Maths and spellings homework is given out on alternate Mondays.  The homework should be returned during the same week it is given out.  The words at the bottom of the spelling homework should be cut off and stapled into the school diaries.  The spellings need to be learnt at home for both spelling tests and revised regularly.  Children will be given 1 house point for completed homework sheets.

Spelling tests

Spellings are tested every Friday.  The words are tested in a list on the first week and in sentences on the second week. Children will be given 1 house point for correct spellings.

PE

P.E. kits need to be in school every day.  The children need trainers for outdoor PE.  Indoor PE is on Monday. Outdoor PE is on Thursday.

Library

Books can be changed every week on Monday.

These pages are under construction - please re-visit soon to see the curriculum and pictures of the children's work.
